Senior Caretaker

We are looking for a Senior Caretaker to join our schools to manage the day-to-day delivery of caretaking and site maintenance across both Howden Junior School and the adjacent Howden C of E Infant School.  Working under the direction of the School Business Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring both school premises and associated facilities are available for educational and allied usage, as well as being kept to a clean, secure, safe and well maintained standard.

This is a part time position for 25 hours per week, on a split shift basis (we would also consider applications to work on a job share basis i.e. Mornings/Afternoons only). The working hours are five hours per day; 6.30am to 9.30am and then 4.00pm to 6.30pm, Monday to Friday.  This is an all-year round, permanent position and your salary will be £16,143 (£12.38 per hour)

What are we are looking for?

We are looking for individuals who are hardworking and self-motivated.  We’re also looking for the following:

  • Previous site maintenance experience
  • IOSH Managing Safely Qualification or willingness to work towards
  • Good working knowledge of statutory Health and Safety checks such as water hygiene routines i.e. legionella prevention, fire safety, asbestos management etc
  • Practical skills related to DIY and minor maintenance tasks
  • Good level of IT literacy skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
