Governor

Are you interested in becoming a school governor?  Do you want to make a real difference in your child’s education and the future of our school community?

We are looking for enthusiastic and committed individuals to join our Governing Body.  We have opportunities for both a Parent Governor and a School Governor.

At The Snaith School, part of The Education Alliance (TEAL), we are incredibly proud of our reputation for academic success, traditional values, and exceptional pastoral care. With around 840 pupils, we are a school that feels like a family—small enough to know each child as an individual, yet large enough to offer a rich and exciting curriculum, a variety of clubs, sports, productions, and trips.

Our aim is simple but powerful:
For every student to enjoy school, be happy, confident, and successful—ready to fulfil their dreams and aspirations.

Governors play a key role in holding school leaders to account for the education provision of the school, including monitoring performance, providing scrutiny of safeguarding, curriculum and standards, behaviour and exclusions, personal development and the provision and outcomes for vulnerable students, including SEND, Pupil Premium and (P)LAC.

As a Governor, you will:

  • Help shape the strategic direction of our school.
  • Support and challenge leaders to ensure the best possible outcomes for all pupils.
  • Represent the voice of parents in decision-making.
  • Contribute to maintaining our strong sense of community, high standards, and commitment to excellence.

Ofsted praised The Snaith School as “a friendly place where differences are welcomed and celebrated”, where pupils are “proud to attend” and behaviour is “positive, calm and respectful.” We are proud of these words—and we invite you to play a part in shaping the next exciting chapter of our journey.

If you’re passionate about education, care deeply about our pupils’ wellbeing, and want to contribute your time and ideas to a school that “does not stand still,” we’d love to hear from you. Governors meet around four times per year and we welcome Governor visits during school time.

You can apply by downloading and completing the attached application form, or by completing an application through this portal.  The deadline for applications is Friday 21 November 2025.  If you have any queries, please contact Louise Brodigan, HR and Office Manager at louise.brodigan@thesnaithschool.org.uk, and we will be happy to help.
