We are seeking to appoint an exceptional Assistant Headteacher to join our senior leadership team at Malet Lambert School. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and dynamic leader to play a key strategic role in shaping the continued success of our school, leading on Behaviour and Pastoral.
Starting in September 2026, the role is up to full time and will be paid on TEAL’s Leadership pay scale (points 11 to 16). If you are interested in working on a part time basis, please get in touch as we would be happy to explore this further with you.
Malet Lambert is a thriving, oversubscribed secondary school in the heart of East Hull. We are proud to be part of The Education Alliance (TEAL), and we share its commitment to ethical leadership, collaboration and pupil success.
Malet Lambert has a proud and distinguished history, founded in 1932 and becoming a comprehensive school in 1968.
Located on James Reckitt Avenue in East Hull, we serve pupils aged 11-16 in a vibrant, inclusive and forward-looking environment.
Our mantra — Traditional Values · Contemporary Aspirations · Creative Curiosity — reflects our belief that every pupil deserves the best: the rigour and respect of the past, the ambition and skills for today’s world and the freedom to be curious, to explore and to grow.
From Year 6 transition through to Year 11, we place the individual needs of our pupils at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to high aspirations, first-class teaching and learning and a culture where each pupil is known, valued and supported to fulfil their potential.
Since joining The Education Alliance (TEAL) in 2016, we have benefitted from collaborative partnerships with other schools in the Trust, enhancing our capacity, provision and professional staff development.
Our inclusion and pastoral systems are well-established and strong. Malet Lambert has been recognised as an Inclusive Quality Mark Flagship School, highlighting our commitment to ensuring that every pupil, regardless of background or need, has access to high-quality education and support.
Our facilities continue to grow and evolve; for example, we relatively recently celebrated the opening of the Jane Disbrey Hall extension, which added modern teaching spaces, new sports and fitness facilities, enhanced capacity and improved outdoor/pupil amenities — demonstrating our investment in the future of our pupils and community.
Within The Education Alliance Multi Academy Trust, there are lots of opportunities for collaboration and also further opportunities to develop and progress. As a trust, we are here to make great schools and happier, stronger communities so that people have better lives.
For too long in many schools, staff have been asked to choose between being seen as good at their job and being a good mum, dad, partner, son, daughter or friend. We are doing everything we can to support our staff to balance the demands of their jobs and those at home.
Above all, we recognise that seeking to remove the number of tasks staff undertake will have little effect on improving work/home balance if this happens within a toxic culture. To support this, we offer training for our leaders to ensure they are able to translate our values into behaviours which are built on the principles of dignity, respect, professionalism and integrity.
We are looking for an individual who is passionate about Teaching and Learning and wants to make a positive impact on the lives of young people.
It is anticipated interviews will be held on Wednesday 13 May 2026 and Thursday 14th May 2026
Prospective applicants are warmly invited to arrange a short meeting and tour of the school with the Headteacher. Please contact the Mollie Poskitt, HR Officer on 01482 374211 or by email via Mollie.Poskitt@Maletlambert.hull.sch.uk
The Education Alliance is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service prior to appointment and we undertake an online check, in line with the Keeping Children Safe in Education 2024 guidance.
